At last my Biometrics was done! After a month of waiting for the re-schedule. It was not as complicated as I thought while preparing the requirements.

Firstly, I brought the following:

My Photo ID - driver's license

Notice of Action or Appointment Letter

My passport

They did not asked for my passport. But I advice those who do not have biometrics to follow what was stated in the NOA or Notice of Action letter.

I did not bring camera and cellphone as stated but I did not see any machine there to detect those gadgets or nobody asked me if I have those gadgets.

The worse thing that would happen if you do not have a cellphone and you are not from Honolulu, it would be difficult to call for a taxi, I can not find some telephone both there. Good thanks that a stranger waiting for a bus in a bus stop dialed the taxi number that was given to me from the airport.

The whole procedure just took less than 10 minutes.

The next thing that I worried about was my flight schedule in going back to Kauai Island, 3 hours of waiting in the airport but I was able to handle it by changing the flight schedule and paid $25. That's it. As mentioned on my post, I was scheduled for a Biometrics by USCIS Honolulu last October 4th, and so I have book a round trip ticket on that date. After a week, I received a call from Honolulu that my schedule will be postponed because the date of appointment has no office. (I don't know what kind of holiday). And I just need to wait for further instructions from them. I waited for almost a month and just 6 days ago, I received again a call that they can not grant my request in my mail to have my interview and biometrics at the same time. Yesterday, I got a mail from them for my final Biometrics schedule for my Adjustment of Status (AOS) application and Employment Authorization Document (EAD) on October 31, 2008 (Halloween..... Booooh).

K1 Biometrics

A biometric or biometrics identifier is an objective measurement of a physical characteristic of an individual which, when captured in a database, can be used to verify the identity or check against other entries in the database. In my Case, I applied Permanent Resident Status and Employment Authorization Document (EAD) and I already received my NOA. Few days later, I also received a mail from USCIS Honolulu for my Biometric schedule. I then booked and reserved a plane ticket to Honolulu but after 1 week I received a phone call that my Biometrics will be re-scheduled because according to them my appointment date has no office and I need to wait for further instructions or notice. I tried called the office but I failed to contact them, so I wrote a mail to them to request that my biometrics schedule and my interview will be on the same date. Waiting for more than 4 weeks, I finally got a call that they received my mail but they can not grant my request because I need to have my biometrics first. They will mail me a noitice for my schedule.

So guys, will keep you updated for my biometric experiences soon. You can visit the nearest Social Security Administration office for more information and details on how to get one.

For K1 Visa Applicants Requirements:

Birth Certificate

Passport

I-94 (Departure Record)

However, while visiting and reading in the forum, I have learned some issues regarding applying for SSN before or after marriage.

I have some friends who already got their SSN before marriage including me. But after marriage, you need to go back to the SSA office to change name, and then my problems comes in. Below is my post in the forum regarding this issue:

The first guy who entertained me to come back and bring my passport,I-94, and BC because at that time we were just inquiring. My reason for having an SSN is for I was taking a short term course .

On the following day, another staff was there, the lady told us that she cannot issue it to me, and she asked the her colleague about it and they were looking for some guidelines but after few minutes, she said it is not possible so we went home. But we did not give up, we still go to the SSA and we saw the guy who first entertained us was there, so we told him about the problem, he issue gave me the receipt and was told to wait for mail. and so i got after few days, I got my SSN before the marriage, he told me to come back to the office and bring our marriage certificate to change the name. So after having the documents we went back to SSA office, and same guy who entertained us was on duty at that time....... and told us to wait for the mail to come. When I got the mail, I was surprised, below is the letter:

We cannot give you a Social Security Card at this time because:

The Department of Homeland Security is unable to verify the immigration document you submitted as evidence of your lawful alien status. You should contact that agency to clarify your current immigration status. Please come and see us when you received your I-766 or I-551.............

How could this be? I have friends in the forum that they got their SSN when they applied for it right after their marriage. Confusing........

The Receipts

Another important evidence for a genuine relationship is keeping all the receipts related to your relationship.

Examples are:

money transfer

hotel accommodation

beach resorts

plane tickets / boarding pass of his /her visit

Engagement ring receipts

And any receipts made while you are together.

Anybody is welcome to post additional information in this regard via comment

Adjustment of Status Checklist

After posting my K1 Visa Timeline, I feel I need to post my Adjustment of Status Timeline. Look for the Delbros booth in the corner within the interview hall and fill up the forms for your visa delivery and pay for the corresponding amount in depending on your location and province. It usually takes more days if you are in the province but in case you are in a hurry to get the visa and wanted to change your visa delivery address, it is POSSIBLE to change. And below is my experience:

In my case, when I was in the US embassy for the sumission of my Police Certificate, I also
went to Delbros booth to ask if it is possible to change the address of my visa delivery and stating the reason/s and the staff gave me a small paper with the pocredure on HOW to change visa delivery address:

Photocopy of your ID

Photocopy of your receipt from Delbros after your internview for visa delivery

Letter of request

Another form from Delbros ( similar to the form that we filled up but this time write the NEW address)

Then process to Delbros Pavilion Gate 4 in the US Embassy when you are done with the requirements. Submit it to Delbros booth and they will accpet it EXCEPT that the amount you paid on your first address will not be refunded. NO MORE ADDITIONAL PAYMENTS REQUIRED!

If you have questions or comments or if you want to add somothing to this post, please feel free to post in comment. Although K1 visa applicants have specifics procedures to follow but each applicant have unique experiences. Being aware of each procedure increases that chances of visa approval. There are applicants that complied all the requirements and were given the visa right after the interview. But there were also K1 visa applicant that were under Administrative Review , they call it AR. If you were given a pink slip and a white slip after the interview, it means that you are under AR . It can be seen in the white form the reason/s for your AR and the procedures on how to comply the required additional documents for administrative review. The length of time for AR varies from case to case.

Here are some reasons for AR:

1. If you pay delbros from 3 weeks before your interview or if you pay the delbros on the interview date. You MUST pay delbros at least month the interview to avoid delay. At that time the USEM can verify your Birth Certificate and Cenomar (Certificate of no marriage) at the National Statistics Office before your Interview. Procedures on how to pay delbros are also in the US embassy website.

2. Needs Additional supporting documents. Examples are photos together, proof of engagement, trips together proof relationship and more.

3. If your fiance/e income/saving is low and needs co-sponsor. Refer to the Affidavit of Support

4. If you stayed/work/ studied abroad for 6 months or more, you need a Police Certificate from that country and take note that Police Certificate takes 2-3 months waiting. So apply PC to the nearest consulate/embassy if this applies to you. Don't forget to bring your passport/s and you will be assisted for the procedures in getting the police certificate.

That's all for now. Additional Info about on K1 visa under administrative review is appreciate.

******************************************

Same article I posted in my K1 visa site and received the following comments:

1. hello.I am also petitioned for a K-1 visa and this early I would like to acquire a police clearance from japan but when I called the japanese embassy they told me that in order to process my police clearance I needed a request letter from the USEM.Do you guys know how can I get such a request letter eventhough our application for K-1 hasn’t been approve yet?I appreciate it if you can give me some suggestions. Thanks - dennis

hi there!in my case, i did NOT bring any documents from US embassy, I just went to the nearest consulate office in my location, since i am not from manila. At the japanese consulate office, i told the security guard that i will request for police certificate and i was allowed to come inside and talk to the staff, right then she handed me the procedures / requirements, like passports old/new and this a form there that you need to fill in and need to do the finger mark ( sorry i forget the term) like in NBI, all your fingers. and then told me that it takes 2 -3 months before i can have bcos they will mail our request to japan and and whatever the result from japan they will call us to pick it up or if in 2 months you did not hear from them ,you need to call them….. you know i requested police certifcate from japan twice bcos the first one was misplaced, but they still give me a chance but it cause the delay of my visa almost 2 weeks after my interview, i got my visa delayed due to my P.certificate. if i were you , i will go to the embassy, do not call, and you will be intertained by the
right person.

2. hello!! my name is stacey and i am a K1 visa applicant and i had
my interview last october15,2008..i was given a pink slip and a white slip…the
consulate is asking me to submit an IRS generated tax transcript of my fiance
since we were only submitting to them his w-2 forms…i paid delbros last sept 24
so that would make it 2 weeks before my interview date…we submitted the tax
transcript on november 3 and is now waiting for a call from the embassy…it has
been 3 weeks since we submitted it and still we haven’t heard from them…do you
have any idea how long it will take for them to review my case…i am so anxious
to be with my fiance already… he is from kauai, hawaii too… i want to be there
on his birthday and that’s on dec 8..will i ever make it? what do you think? i
cry every night before going to bed thinking how long exactly til i get my
visa…this whole thing is making me crazy…please give me some info on the
standard timeline of a visa application on AR…i would really appreciate it…thank
you in advance…by the way i like the amazing kauai category… good job!!! i wanna get there soon and be with my fiance…please pray for me….take care and hope to hear from you soon…

Aloha Candel!I am glad that yo uare going to kauai too! i told my husband and he’s happy too…. we are in Lihue, wish to meet you guys someday! Regarding AR, it your case will be reviewed again, depending on the volume of applicants on AR when you submitted the required docs. Some in a month, but the best thing to do is to contact delbros, since all approved visa will be given to them for delivery. When I was on AR, while I was in manila, went to USEM but failed to come inside but interviewed by their staff outside, i ask them ask to how long i will wait, they told me the it might be 2 weeks or a month. So i went back to davao, after 2 days delbors text me. I also keep contacting delbros about my case status. be patient you will be here sooooooooon you may also like to visit my alohagems website and look for the level K1 Visa Trail, those are my trail is k1 up to the Adjustment of status or for the green card and SSN, and EAD

hello!!! mahalo so much for replying!!!..it would be fun to meet you guys someday too…i’ll tell my fiance about it..he’s from lihue as well…uhmmm, how am i gonna be able to contact delbros?? do you have their contact number?? i only have their mobile number but they don’t accept incoming calls…they only reply to messages that are sent after paying the document verification fee…and how long exactly did you get your visa after the day you were given the pink and white slip?? i keep calling the USembassy call center but they keep telling me to wait for a call from them within a month after we submitted the documents..do they really call?? or is it possible that they will just send me my visa without getting a call from them?? i go crazy everytime my phone would ring and i get really sad knowing that it’s not from them..i know it sounds pathetic…tsk..tsk..anyway, may i know your first name so that the next time i will write to you i can address you by it??thank you so much for all the information..and i hope to hear from you again!! aloha and malama to you and your husband!!!

Tips on Applying K1 Visa : Administrative Review

The US embassy sets application procedure for K1 visa applicants and it can be accessed in their website. Although you can do it in any ways but there are some tips or sample of an engagement party below

Tell your parents, relatives and friends about when, where and what is going on. Send invitation if necessary.

Decide for a venue, for instance, in your house, in a beach, restaurant and other places you might think that is it the best location for your party.

Buy an engagement ring, usually he would want you to choice the ring in any price you like (if he can afford).

If you decide for an engagement party in a beach and park resort and not in your hometown or city, prepare for the transfortation of your family and friends who wanted to come. Be sure to identify that number of persons who wanted to come to estimate the expenses for entrance fee, transfortations, foods and etc.

Meet the resort manager / resort in charge to discuss the party and menu and to agree on the price.

Ask your close friends, relatives to prepare a small program during that day. (Opening prayer, presentations, short talks from parents, friends and relatives, giving of ring and the emcee).

Lastly, don't forget to take pictures as many as you can.

How was your engagement?

Let's Meet

One of the basic requirements of filing a Fiancé Visa (K-1) on behalf of your fiancé is that you both have met in person within the past two years.

During his/her visit be sure to have photos together as many as you can. Looking for those who are looking for me.

How did you met?

How did you meet him/her?
Internet (online games, online dating site, chat rooms, childhood sweetheart, somewhere in your place, in another country, at work, introduce by relatives, friends, former classmate, etc...)

Bar/LoungeYour typical, "We saw each other from across the room...."

We met on Yahoo Personals. I came across his profile and aimed him for the heck of it....little did I know that it would be the best risk I ever took. We chatted for 3 weeks...met at the different starbucks (he finally came over to the right one) on the first date...he moved 120 miles away and changed jobs to be with me. and now we're getting married...and he's graduating with his BA in Political Science six months later. I made him go to school when we met 2-1/2 years ago and he's been doing school full time and working full time ever since.I love my sweetie!

Me and Jared met on a site called HotorNot! It's a site where you post your pic, and people rate it. You also have a chance to request to talk to that person, if they approve of you. Well, I guess we both thought each other was "HOT" so more than 2 years later, the rest is history.

We met in high school. A chemistry class, actually. (I almost never tell people that, they make so many bad jokes!). He was the only boy who didn't talk to me. (I was a little self centered then!)
